2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Lenovo Ac Adapter

Los Angeles, CA – I can't believe they actually did it, but as if the bonkers Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG wasn't enough, the manufacturer's AMG skunkworks division is releasing a "Black" edition of the car with more power, more torque and less weight.

Not to mention a little bit of irony; yes, the car is called the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, but the exclusive colour is anything but; in fact, its name—"Solar Beam"—sounds like the direct opposite of a colour that would grace anything with the word "Black" in its title.

At any rate, that power (622 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque—the hp figure is up 59 over the standard SLS, but the torque figure is actually down 11 on the standard car). Still, it helps the Black accelerate to 100 km/h in a claimed 3.5 seconds, on to a startling top speed of 196 miles-per-hour.

Gullwing doors remain, but rear spoiler, flared fenders, rear diffuser and hood are all new and reflect the SLS GT3 racer inspiration
This all comes courtesy of an increase in max engine speed from 7,200 to 8,000 r.p.m., a revised valve train with new cams, new electronic engine mapping and modified air intake ducting. On top of all that, the water and oil cooling systems have been heavily modified to cope with the higher engine speeds.

Yes, the gap in torque output may raise some eyebrows (it did mine), but at 1,550 kilos, it undercuts the SLS by almost 70 kilos and earns the Black the title of being the lightest Black Series vehicle yet. At just four models, that sample population is not huge, but when you consider the fact that the Black gets to 100 clicks almost as quickly as an Enzo Ferrari can, you know you've got a serious performance piece on your hands. And just so drivers know just what it is they're piloting, a new AMG titanium exhaust lends a deeper voice to the proceedings, especially during paddle-actuated downshifts where the throttle is automatically blipped.

The weight savings can be attributed to a heavy use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the body panels, seats, and transmission tunnel along with a carbon fibre driveshaft. Even the battery like Lenovo 92P1106 Ac Adapter, Lenovo 3000 C100 Ac Adapter, Lenovo FRU 92P1108 Ac Adapter, Lenovo 40Y7668 Ac Adapter, Lenovo 92P1160 Ac Adapter, Lenovo 3000 Ac Adapter, Lenovo ThinkPad R60 Ac Adapter, Lenovo ThinkPad T60 Ac Adapter, Lenovo 3000 V100 Ac Adapter, Lenovo 40Y7660 Ac Adapter, Lenovo 92P1157 Ac Adapter, Lenovo 92P1106 Ac Adapter was considered, with Merc switching to a lithium-ion starter battery as opposed to a conventional lead-acid item. A new electronic locking rear differential as opposed to the old car's mechanical version, meanwhile, ensures that very little about the SLS Black is left untouched by the electronics that make today's racing cars—the SLS draws its inspiration from the SLS GT3 racer—as advanced as they are.

In the handling department, AMG has added a two-piece ceramic brake system and mounted the AMG SPEEDSHIFT Dual-clutch transmission 0.4 inches lower for a better centre of gravity. It shifts faster now, too.

The suspension remains basically the same, with modifications like adjustable coil-over dampers, adaptive suspension and stiffer front and rear axles (up 50/42 per cent, front/rear). The track is also wider and Michelin has lent its brand-new Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire tech to ensure that the rubber meets the road in the proper manner.

But really, just look at it. Where the original SLS was a supercar in a tuxedo, this here is the Bizarro version, to reference a memorable Superboy comic where The Man of Steel's evil exact opposite terrorized the good people of Metropolis.

What I can't get past, however, was how so much of the SLS's identity was its ability to disguise its supercar performance in a grand-touring body. The Black will undoubtedly be/is a technological marvel, but will it have what it takes to compete—on a performance level that is, now that the tuxedo is off—with other, more pure-bred supercars to which it will be inevitably be compared? Cars like a Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera or McLaren MP4-12C?
