Ford is investing in a testing facility for lithium-ion batteries used in C-MAX hybrids.Photograph by: Keith Morgan , WieckFord is putting the equivalent of 10 years and 240,000 kilometres of wear and tear on hybrid vehicle batteries such as Compaq 101880-001 Ac Adapter, Compaq 120765-001 Ac Adapter, Compaq 159224-001 Ac Adapter, Compaq 209126-001 Ac Adapter, Compaq 265649-B25 Ac Adapter, Compaq 309241-001 Ac Adapter, Compaq 325112-001 Ac Adapter, Compaq 374791-001 Ac Adapter, Compaq AC-C14 Ac Adapter, Compaq LPACQ3 Ac Adapter, Compaq PP1006 Ac Adapter, Compaq PPP009L Ac Adapter using a new lab test that takes less than a year to complete.

Ford designed a new test — the Key Life Test — specifically for its new lithium-ion (li-ion) batteries. It is critical research because battery reliability ranks as the single-most important purchase consideration by potential hybrid customers — topping 17 other factors such as fuel economy and safety features, according to a recent Ford-commissioned survey.

Ford is investing $135 million in the design, engineering and production of key components — including doubling its battery testing capabilities — for the five electrified vehicles the company will have in its portfolio by the end of the year: Fusion Hybrid, Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid, C-MAX Hybrid, C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid and Focus Electric.

As is the tradition, the Swiss company Rinspeed appears set to dazzle with ingenuity at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show next March.

Creative company boss Frank M. Rinderknecht will show his urban transport vehicle the all-electric 'microMAX'.

It's 3.6 metres long, about the same as the BMW MINI, providing space for a driver, three passengers and a stroller or shopping cart. The vehicle height of 2.2 metres allows for the installation of space-saving upright seats with safety belts.

A coffee maker, a refrigerator and unlimited connectivity for entertainment purposes or for working while on the move are included.

The versatile vehicle can be easily converted for use by craftsmen or delivery services.

The large — which is what the L in the name stands for — family car is being launched in Europe with two trims, Pop Star and Easy.

A list of standard equipment includes five-inch touch screen radio, Bluetooth, six airbags, ESP stability program, body-coloured electric door mirrors, cruise control, leather gearknob and steering wheel.
